Every time we talked about the sea, one sentence appears-“Face the sea, with spring flowers blossoming”. Every time, I go to the seaside, this sentence echos in my mind. Finally, I absolutely understand why I love the sea so much. The sea is as shy as a girl, as bold as a lion, as vast as a grassland, and as clear as a mirror. It is always mysterious, magical and attractive.
In front of the sea, how tiny the sea make one feel. So every time, I go to seaside, I will never think of my bad mood or unhappiness. I feel that I am a part of the air and the sea. Always I can empty myself and enjoy the time at seaside.
It is no surprise to see the sea for people who live in the south of China. Even we know when is high tide and low tide. When at high tide, the sea will submerge the lower seabed, and no sandy beach can be seen. The sound of the sea beating against the seawall and rocks, as well as the fresh sea breeze coming from the face, made people calm down immediately. It is very enjoyable to run by the sea wearing earphone. There are 3 to 5 days of low tide at the end of month and the beginning of the month of Chinese lunar calendar. It is very lively. Groups of people, the young and the old even the babies are coming to the beach, playing, walking, flying kites, and catching clams etc.
The impressive in this year is catching clams by the sea at low tide. It is on 4th Sept 2021, a sunny day. I drove my “Bauma”, electric bike, picking up my nephew, carrying shovels and buckets, wearing hats. We went to seaside in high spirit. When we reached there, my nephew asked me ”it’s hot, why so many people come so early?”. Yes, we were not the first one to reach there. There were so many people. Some were walking on the beach. Some were siting on seawall. Some were digging holes. It was a quite different and lively sight. People who were digging holes, took shovels and buckets, occupied a small square beach and shacked hands from time to time. My nephew and me, we took off our shoe, running to the beach and occupied a pocket-handkerchief of beach. We tried to digging and catching clams. But at the beginning, we can not find anything besides some shells and oncomelania. We found that people beside us caught many clams even thought some were small and some big. We felt nervous and anxious. So we changed the place quickly. Because of low tide, we can move very far away from the seawall. Even, we can walk to the under of middle of Ji’mei bridge. We decided to stay by one of the pillars of the bridge. We tried and succeed. There were more clams at the place where be full of soft sand and little water. My nephew was so excited when we found good place and caught more and more clams. We put some sea water into bucket to make sure clams can be alive. Just minutes passed, we found that clams said hello to us and smiled to us. They poked their heads out of their shells, breathing the air outside. They were shy and hided into their shells again when buckets were shocked.
Two hours flying, the evening was coming. Sea water was also up. It’s high tide. We had to packed our tools and were ready to go home. Stepping barefoot on the sandy beach with a little water, it’s so wonderful. Touching feeling went through toe to body and to mind, I felt so relaxed just like wandering in the sea. Walking on the way to home, the breeze was blowing to the face. My nephew was so excited to yelled out “I am so happy today”.
The sea is always so mysterious, magical to cure and hug everybody who walk aside her. I love and enjoy the life living near the sea.
